Looking For

I’m open to almost any situation really. I’m not necessarily picky about whether you’re just jamming in your garage and need a bassist to fill out a low end or whether you’re digging on the weekends and your bassist quit. I’m passionate about playing and writing music and I’ve been out of the game for a few years now. What I care about is the music, if I enjoy the sound then that’s what matters.

Bio

First, let me say the majority of my background will revolve around me playing at church and in a Christian band. That’s not necessarily what I’m looking for now. I am open to it and I do love Jesus but the majority of what I listen to is not Christian music. I do love playing at church and I am open to being in a Christian band but I have to love the music. That’s the most important thing to me right now, whether or not it is a Christian band or not I have to care about the music. Anyways...
I began playing bass when I was 13 years old and joined my church’s worship team. I’m still playing at various churches to this day as needed. I decided to pursue music as a career and was the first student in the history of University of Alaska Fairbanks to pursue a Music Degree on the Electric Bass. However in my second year in the program I ended up leaving school since my band, Nitengale, won a national competition called “Artist Ovation” with Word Records (essentially the Christian side of Warner Bros). As winners of the competition we won a developmental deal with Word Records so we decided to move to the Nashville area where Word was based. During our time with Word records we had the honor of working with such fantastic producers as Otto Price and we shared the stage with amazing artists such as Casting Crowns, Red, Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, and many others. After a few years of touring all over the country and playing some of the country’s best Christian music festivals such as Cornerstone, Spirit West Coast, Alive Festival and Lifelight (including 3 main stage appearances at various festivals) Nitengale split up amicably in 2010. I would love for you to check out our music on Spotify, ITunes or YouTube. We weren’t your typical Christian band, which I think you’ll quickly find if you take a listen. I suggest our second album “Oh My Heart!” both for the higher quality recording and slightly more bass-forward sound.
Since 2010 I have played in and for various bands/artists. I have done a little studio work here and there for friends and have played various gigs at youth retreats, camps and even a country gig or two (which was a new experience for me). I was in a band with a couple of good friends called Northrun for a year or so but when a band member moved away it slowly dissolved.
I also spent roughly 4 years as an instructor on electric bass at Mary’s Music in Clarksville, TN where I live.
Long story short I have a passion for music. I love jamming, I love writing, I love performing. I may be 32, I may have a wife and 2 kids, I may work a lot of hours but I would be willing to make time for the right situation. If I loved the music and enjoyed the guys I was playing with I would absolutely be thrilled to play music again.
